A federal judge has ruled in favor of Utah’s anti-gambling laws over online prediction market Kalshi. In February, Kalshi sued after lawmakers passed a law that added proposition bets to the state’s definition of gambling. But the birth of prediction markets like Kalshi created a new wrinkle for UtahKalshi’s site says you can “trade money on the outcomes of real world events.” On social media, he said that “prediction markets are gambling, full stop,” after the ruling.
