The State Land Board manages 3 million acres of land across Colorado with the principal goal being to generate revenue for public schools.
Last year the Land Board issued a request for information.
The Land Board properties extend from Las Animas County (Trinidad) on the east and La Plata County (Durango) on the west.
These parcels in the five Southern Colorado counties are what the companies told the Land Board were the most desirable areas.
They range from large companies to small ones to companies the Land Board staff had never heard of before, said Smith.
