Thousands of rail passengers face disruption for days after trackside fire

A spokesman for Transport for Wales said: "Due to a fire next to the track between Newport (South Wales) (NWP) and Cardiff Central (CDF).
"Services may be cancelled in both directions between Cardiff Central (CDF) and Newport (South Wales) (NWP).
The impact extends beyond the immediate area, affecting services between Cardiff and Shrewsbury, as well as Ebbw Vale Town and Maesteg.
The Ebbw Vale to Maesteg route will operate only between Cardiff Central and Maesteg, while Newport to Ebbw Vale trains are running as normal.
Rail passengers can use Great Western Railway and CrossCountry services between Cardiff Central and Cheltenham Spa.
