Under the banner "Unlocking Wales’ Potential," a call for evidence will inform a new culture and sport strategy to guide the next decade of development in these areas. Heledd Fychan, the Welsh Government cabinet minister for culture and sport, said: "This initial conversation at the Eisteddfod will be the start of a new chapter for culture and sport in Wales, as we discuss how they can unlock the potential of our nation." For the first time, the strategy will include sport and the creative industries as key components of national life, with measurable actions planned for each sector. The Welsh Government is inviting individuals, organisations, and communities, including those in Gwent, to take part in a public call for evidence to help shape the long-term vision for culture and sport. A panel discussion at the National Eisteddfod will launch the first phase, with further engagement events planned across Wales in the coming months.
