James Brokenshire was a Conservative Party politician who served in several prominent ministerial and cabinet roles.
Known for his kind demeanor, he held major positions under three prime ministers—David Cameron, Theresa May, and Boris Johnson—before his tragic passing from lung cancer at age 53.
In late 2017, Brokenshire was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer despite being a lifelong non-smoker.
He became an indefatigable campaigner for better lung cancer screening and healthcare, successfully reducing the stigma surrounding the disease.
