Major incident wildfire still burning as helicopter joins firefighting efforts

The large blaze, burning on the mountainside near Llanwonno in Ferndale, has drawn a full-scale emergency response from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, South Wales Police, Natural Resources Wales (NRW), and the Local Authority. A joint agency statement said: "South Wales Fire and Rescue Service along with partners from, South Wales Police, Natural Resources Wales and the Local Authority continue to work together to manage the ongoing wildfire incident at Llanwonno, Ferndale. "The incident remains a major incident, although significant progress has been made. The helicopter remains in operation. South Wales Police remain on scene with prevention activity focused on deliberate fire-setting and unauthorised drone use.
