While some of the funds supported Reading’s new Central Library, the majority was spent on upgrading technology and resources at branch libraries. Improvements include upgraded public PCs, tablets to use on site and laptops with data that can be taken home, and wi-fi, wi-fi printing and wi-fi printing from home. These upgrades are now available at Battle Library, Caversham Library, Palmer Park Library, Southcote Library, Tilehurst Library, Whitley Library and the Central Library. All Reading libraries are currently running the Reading loves reading challenge throughout the school summer holidays. The investment aims to ensure libraries remain valuable, accessible resources for learning, leisure and community connection.
