Since some rulings involved more than one alleged offense, the study classified 700 allegations: 561 involving Facebook, 88 involving X and 51 involving Instagram. The figures do not represent all social media-related criminal cases in Turkey or show that one platform generates more crime than another. Together, the two categories made up more than half of the Facebook allegations reviewed. Expression-related charges were also prominent in cases involving X, but allegations involving religious values, political disputes and public order appeared more frequently than on the other platforms. Cases involving threats and privacy violations declined, while information technology-related fraud remained relatively stable.
