West Mercia Police has given Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin Council ‘grab bags’ that can be given to people who have had to flee their homes due to domestic abuse. The bags, which were funded by the PC Fund, have also been given to Herefordshire County Council and Worcestershire County Council. The idea behind the bags is that those fleeing domestic abuse may leave with nothing, and these can be given out to people when needed, so they have the essentials. Anyone who believes they are affected by domestic abuse is encouraged to reach out, whether directly to police or via local support services: West Mercia Police, Women’s Aid, National Domestic Abuse Helpline, or find out about Clare’s Law. The Police and Crime Commissioner funds a range of domestic abuse and sexual violence services.
