11-year-olds Aoife Hurley, a pupil at Lantern Community Primary School, and Amelie Dawson, who attends King's Ely, held their very first street sale in Ely's West End/Fieldside area on August 1. The charities they chose to support, Little Hearts Matter and Great Ormond Street Hospital, have deeply personal significance for the girls. Sinead Hurley, Aoife's mother, said: "They worked incredibly hard to make everything from hand and it was wonderful to see their hard work pay off." Victoria Dawson, Amelie’s mother, said: "To see people come out, show an interest and donate shows what an amazing community we have in Ely." Little Hearts Matter is a charity which houses families during the difficult period when children are undergoing life-changing surgery.
