Cornerstone, which is the applicant behind the plans, has been given permission to build the mast, along with a transmission dish and two equipment cabinets, on the grass verge at the corner of Salhouse Road and Heartsease Lane. The proposed mast and cabinets will be set 16ft from the main road and will be painted green to blend in better with the surrounding trees. Planners for City Hall said: "Overall, the proposed development is supported. The visual impact of the mast on the character and appearance of the area is considered to be less than substantial. Cornerstone recently withdrew another application for a 65.5ft phone mast on land behind the Hellesdon Community Centre following concerns the site was inappropriate for the installation.
