The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) forecasts that 40,000 additional workers could be needed for major projects by 2030. Mr Stannett said once Sizewell C becomes operational, many small businesses across the region are likely to lose skilled workers to the nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast. Hospitality and small businesses in the local area will benefit from it, and hopefully it will bring more energy security. “But for smaller businesses it is going to cause some issues, especially ones that aren't able to get onto its supply chain.”
