Council tax fraudster lied about living with husband to claim bill reduction

Anna Lupu falsely claimed to be the sole adult occupant of her Norwich home in order to get a discount on her bills.
The 29-year-old, of Robin Hood Road, was claiming a council tax reduction of £653 after not declaring she was "maintaining a common household" by living with her husband.

Council tax reduction is aimed at residents on low income, whether working or unemployed, covering part or sometimes all of the bill, but eligibility depends on income, savings and household members.
Last year, Norwich City Council investigated 2,882 council tax irregularities, with 27 fraud cases detected at a value of £65,525.
