Secondary Teachers Need More Support For Students With Additional Learning Needs - SurveyLess than half of secondary teachers say they have sufficient support to teach students with additional learning needs, according to the 2025 National Survey of Secondary Schools.
However, only 40% agreed they had sufficient support to teach students with additional learning needs in their classes.
“This matters because students with additional learning needs should be able to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom learning.”
“It would help teachers respond to students’ learning, wellbeing, and behavioural needs, while also supporting more inclusive learning environments.”
The 2025 survey gathered responses from 830 teachers from 126 schools that teach secondary students.
