The Tamil Nadu government is planning several major public transport projects to improve connectivity within the state and with neighboring Karnataka. One of the key proposals is a Metro rail link connecting Hosur in Tamil Nadu with Bommasandra in Bengaluru. In addition to the Hosur Metro proposal, Tamil Nadu is also working to expand the Chennai Metro Rail network. The government is requesting approval for new Metro corridors to improve public transport in different parts of Chennai. Along with Metro expansion, Tamil Nadu is continuing its efforts to promote environmentally friendly transportation.
