The now-demolished SeaQuarium building in Rhyl (Image: Adrian Evans)Mr Ford wrote in the application that the funfair is currently situated in a “cramped site within the Children’s Village,” and that it “can be prone to antisocial behaviour” when it is closed. Mr Ford wrote: “The council is now beginning to develop plans for how it might alter and use the Children’s Village site in future years, and so it is prudent to re-locate the fairground to allow this rejuvenation to happen. “It is logical to re-locate it on land still within Denbighshire’s ownership on the large area of vacant tarmac that was created following the demolition of the old Rhyl SeaQuarium. The council said it did not prove possible to deliver its coastal defence improvements project in Rhyl without impacting on SeaQuarium. SeaQuarium received a settlement of £1,335,500 following its closure, while the council also spent £90,000 on relocating SeaQuarium’s six seals.
