Habitat optimises Octopus solar-storage portfolio
['Lavinia Hulley']
Ecogeneration
Habitat Energy will also optimise the 300 MW Blind Creek Solar Farm and associated 243 MW/486 MWh battery near Bungendore, New South Wales.
Together, the two developments are expected to generate enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of more than 150,000 Australian homes.
This design can capture renewable energy that may otherwise be lost, reduce conversion losses and store electricity for dispatch during periods of higher demand.
Greg Billman, Managing Director, Habitat Energy Australia, highlighted that effectively coordinating renewable generation and storage would be important to delivering reliable, affordable electricity.
The agreement adds to Habitat Energy’s Australian portfolio, which includes the 250 MW Williamsdale battery energy storage system in the Australian Capital Territory and the 100 MW Mannum battery in South Australia.
