The carnival will travel through the Old Village to Shanklin High Street, before moving to Regent Street, Queens Road and finishing up at Chine Avenue. Representatives from a collection of organisations are expected to attend, as well as carnival royalty from all over the Island. The County Press will be livestreaming the event on Facebook as it happens, for those unable to attend in person. Spectators are advised to arrive well ahead of the event to secure a good viewing spot. Festivities are set to continue this weekend in the town, as Shanklin hosts its illuminated carnival on Saturday, August 8, before the main event mantle is taken by Ventnor next Wednesday (August 12).
