The celebrations coincided with a landmark announcement for British sailing, as former British Sailing Team kitefoiler Jemima Lines was unveiled as the latest signing for the GB1 British America's Cup team. Following another busy day's racing on the Solent, competitors gathered for the Women's Day prizegiving, hosted by award-winning charity The Magenta Project. The prestigious Women's Day Trophy, awarded annually since 2006 to recognise outstanding contributions to women in sailing, was presented this year to double Olympic champion Hannah Mills. Cowes Week continues today (Wednesday, August 5), with racing resuming across the Solent as the world's largest sailing regatta heads towards its final weekend.
