JAMMU, Aug 5: Crime Branch Jammu has filed a chargesheet in a long-pending fraud case involving alleged misappropriation of ₹12.97 lakh in government revenue at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) Jammu, officials said.
During investigation, Crime Branch found that one-time token tax collected from vehicle owners was allegedly shown at lower amounts in cash books, resulting in alleged misappropriation of ₹12,97,040.
The investigation also uncovered the alleged use of fake driving institute certificates, fabricated documents and forged attestations for obtaining endorsements for Passenger Service Vehicle (PSV) driving licences.
Investigators further found that records of the driving institute had allegedly been destroyed to conceal the fraudulent activities.
Crime Branch Jammu appealed to the public to remain vigilant against economic fraud and report such incidents to the authorities.
