In a statement posted on social media, Mayor Athanasios Vitsas said he had received an update on the young man’s condition after the victim was transferred to a hospital in Thessaloniki for treatment. “His life is not in danger,” Vitsas said, adding that the injured tourist will remain hospitalized for as long as necessary to complete his recovery. The mayor also expressed his wishes for the young man’s speedy recovery. Following the incident, the mayor also urged both residents and visitors to follow posted safety signs, avoid entering areas where work is being carried out, and exercise appropriate caution to protect their personal safety.
