The carnival committee has reminded people that they are “a full voluntary committee” which spends its “time and effort in staging this great traditional event.” Hartlepool Carnival has since posted a statement:Following recent comments and assumptions regarding the way the carnival is held. We are a full voluntary committee who spend our time and effort in staging this great traditional event. Murphy’s Funfairs continue to work and support the carnival committee as always and years gone by which is greatly appreciated. The Hartlepool Carnival started July 31 and is running until August 9.
