Person in hospital with head injuries after being hit by car in County Durham

Emergency services were called to the B6532 in Edmondsley at around 1.30am this morning (August 5) following a crash.
The road was shut between the Edmondsley Lane crossroads and Congburn Bank in both directions following the incident.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) sent several ambulance crews to the scene and treated one person who had suffered head and chest injuries.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called just after 1.30am this morning (5 AUG) to attend a road traffic collision near the school on B6532 in Edmondsley following reports of a pedestrian in collision with a vehicle.
“We dispatched two ambulance crews, a doctor in a rapid response car, a specialist paramedic and a clinical team leader, who treated one patient with head and chest injuries before conveying to hospital."
