Mumbai: The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors launched an indefinite statewide strike on Wednesday. The doctors are protesting over the government’s decision that allowed homoeopaths to register under the Maharashtra Medical Council and prescribe allopathic medicines. The MMC issued a notification on June 30, granting nod to the homoeopaths to prescribe modern medicines on completion of a a six-month Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology. The agitating doctors threatened to intensify the strike if government doesn’t initiate a talk with them. But all OPD services, routine duties, and academic activities at government medical college hospitals in all districts will remain suspended.
