New data from the Southern Nevada Health District shows that e-cigarette use remains widespread among local youth — with nearly 1 in 3 high schoolers having tried vaping, health officials said Tuesday.
The figures come from the 2025 Nevada Youth Risk Behavior Survey, which found that 31% of Clark County high school students and 17% of middle school students report having tried e-cigarettes.
Health officials note that, like other tobacco products, e-cigarettes contain nicotine, a highly addictive chemical that can affect brain development and impair attention, learning, mood and impulse control.
Dr. Cassius Lockett, District Health Officer for the Health District, said in a statement that young people don’t realize that vaping products contain nicotine.
The Health District said schools and community organizations also have an important role to play in providing education, support and resources to help young people make healthy choices.
