Kalikavu: The spread of jaundice in Malappuram district has become a growing public health concern, with 150 people seeking treatment at government hospitals over the past month. Health officials say the actual number of cases is likely to be significantly higher, as it does not include patients treated at private hospitals. A higher number of cases have been recorded in Kalikavu, Thuvvur, Chokkad and Karuvarakund. Chokkad panchayat has reported 12 confirmed cases, while 10 cases have been identified across various parts of Kalikavu. Preventive measures have been intensified by the Health Department and local self-government institutions in areas reporting a high number of cases.
