Meatball mix‑up shuts Gawler East Edge Early Learning childcare centre until 2027

An Edge Early Learning centre has been forced to close until 2027 after a child with a known allergy was served meatballs which put them in hospital.
The incident unfolded at the Gawler East centre in Adelaide’s north on July 3 after a change in food suppliers, with the new produce containing allergens.
Edge Early Learning earlier confirmed the closure until October and said the centre will undergo a full review of its food‑handling processes, supplier management and safety protocols.
However, ESB confirmed to 7NEWS.com.au that the extended closure comes from their investigation following the meatball incident.
