Less than a week after he was given the keys to the Test team, England red ball coach Stephen Fleming has made a play for Michael Hussey to join his coaching staff. It’s understood Fleming contacted Mr Cricket himself, asking if he would have any interest becoming the team’s batting coach. If Hussey ends up England’s batting coach, it would lead to a remarkable Ashes reunion 14 years after he last represented Australia. Later, Fleming was the coach and Hussey the franchise’s star player then assistant coach, with the pair spending 15 years together. Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming won’t take charge until England’s three-Test tour of South Africa in December.
