A writer, artist, rapper and poet from Queanbeyan is this year’s winner of the Miles Franklin Literary Award. Borean-Australian Omar Musa won the presitgous award for his novel Fierceland, a story about siblings who grew up on an island of Borneo and were children of a palm oil baron. Mr Musa said he was “completely blown away” to win the award after being short-listed for the first time.
