(ABC 6 News) — The City of Rochester is hoping to meet growing demand for housing with 14,000 additional homes by 2035.
The city says it is expecting around 16,000 more people to seek homes by 2035.
Assistant Director of Housing and Development Taryn Edens says creating homes for the elderly and underserved populations are priority targets for new homes.
Edens says some of the most affordable homes within the city are already built, but the city is still looking to create price-conscious housing.
Mike Paradise of Bigelow Homes says it’s crucial these new homes remain affordable for people breaking into the housing market for the first time.
