A planning application has been approved by Westmorland and Furness Council for alterations to Victoria Hall on Main Street. The listed building consent, submitted by Claire Benbow of Grange Town Council, allows for the removal of a mid-20th-century office partition from an upper-floor room. Victoria Hall is a Grade II listed civic venue dating from 1901 used for public events, theatre, council offices and room hire. The consent covers the removal of a timber-framed glazed partition installed in the 1950s or 1960s, which divides a front-facing office into two smaller rooms. The Heritage Statement and Design and Access Statement noted that the 1960s partition does not meet modern requirements for safety or accessibility.
