Barrow RNLI was alerted to reports of the vessel being in difficulty in Walney Channel at 3.07pm on Tuesday, August 4. This came after the six-metre yacht had to be towed back to safety late on August 2 to 'avoid it becoming a hazard'. A spokesperson from Barrow RNLI said: "The information received was that the yacht understood to be on passage from Roa Island to Fleetwood was struggling in the south westerly wind whilst attempting to transit the Walney Channel. "It soon became apparent that this was the same yacht which had been helped by the lifeboat less than 48 hours earlier." "A line was attached and the yacht was towed back to Piel Bight where it was secured to a safe mooring.
