Fisheries officers have seized an illegal net from the River Foyle near Lifford. Officers from the Loughs Agency seized the net, which was set across the Backwater on the Foyle. Drones, equipped with thermal imaging, helped officers to detect an active poaching crew and identify the illegal net despite challenging conditions. “This technology enabled officers to respond quickly, remove the net and protect the River Foyle’s valuable Atlantic salmon stocks,” a spokesperson said.
