The index scores Canadian SMEs at 56.7 out of 100. The report found that 56.5 per cent of Canadian small businesses score below 60 out of 100, and 10.4 per cent score 80 or above. About the index and methodology The Zenbooks Financial Clarity Index scores businesses across five disciplines, each out of 20: Awareness (national average 11.7), Forecasting (11.7), Decision-Making (10.0), Systems (10.4) and Risk (12.8). The 2026 edition surveyed 565 Canadian small and mid-sized businesses through the Cint Marketplace panel, with results weighted to Statistics Canada totals for region, employee size and sector.
