Former Kitchener Centre Member of Parliament Mike Morrice has announced his intentions to run for the top job in the Green Party of Canada. Elizabeth May, the longtime leader of the Green Party of Canada, announced her intention to step down last year, with hopes of rejuvenating the party. Morrice was elected MP in Kitchener Centre in 2021, becoming just the second Green MP elected to the House of Commons and the second Green MP elected outside of B.C. The new leader of the Green Party will be announced on November 15. The Green Party announced Ottawa high school teacher Nira Dookeran would also be running for the role.
