A grandfather who appeared in a front page appeal in the Daily Mail 65 years ago after being abandoned as a baby in a luxury block of flats has finally learned who his birth mother was. Now, however, after completing a home DNA test, he has been reunited with his family, who are from Holland. Although Mr Stevenson learned his mother, Petra, had sadly died in 2010, he said: 'It has been an emotional but very rewarding and uplifting experience.' The DNA test revealed the father-of-three had a second cousin in Vancouver, Canada, who told him the extended family lived in Rotterdam. That much is clear because my father's line is French [according to the DNA analysis],' Mr Stevenson said.
