Breckenridge Ski Resort is betting one of the town’s oldest stories can become one of its newest attractions. Instead, roughly 150 invited guests boarded the QuickSilver chairlift to TenMile Station on Peak 9 for an after-hours celebration dedicated to kicking off the “kingdom” campaign. When Breckenridge Ski Resort opened in 1961, founders Trygve Berge, Sigurd Rockne and Bill Rounds embraced the same spirit through early Ullr celebrations that helped attract skiers to the fledgling mountain business. Rather, the ski area rebrand also frames new experiences planned across the resort beginning this winter ski season. On Monday, Aug. 3, Breckenridge Ski Resort announced a list of upcoming events, like a new Founders Day celebration planned for Dec. 16 to honor the pioneers who established the resort.
