Share this story:Natural gas prices are taking a slight rise in the month of August, according to the city’s latest utility rates update. The latest pricing from the municipal utility department sets August’s natural gas default rate to $1.537 per gigajoule, an increase of $0.175 from last month’s price of $1.362 per GJ. The rate includes a $0.07 per GJ fee used to recover transactional costs and a small rate of return. Large commercial and industrial ratepayers will pay $0.12025 per kWh, on par with rates in Calgary and Edmonton.
