The reassurance follows an announcement of new European rules on baggage transparency, set by the European Commission and due to take effect in 2027. These rules aim to improve clarity around luggage policies, helping passengers understand what is included in their fare. Jet2 customers already receive a free 10kg hand luggage allowance as standard, alongside a personal item. Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2, said: "For Jet2 customers, these new rules change nothing because we have always believed in doing the right thing by customers when it comes to hand luggage. According to Jet2, 80% of customers say the inclusion of 10kg of free hand luggage is a key reason they choose to fly with Jet2.
