The Associated Press called the winner of the Michigan Governor Primary Race for John James at 9:24 p.m. Tuesday evening. James is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District. He will face off against Democratic primary winner Jocelyn Benson in the General Election on November 1. Whoever wins the general election will take over for Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who has served up to her limit of two terms. Now, Republicans have control of the Michigan House of Representatives.
