What was on your mind at the time: My solo, “Queen of the Neighborhood!,” explores femininity, morality, and social expectation through the framework of Dante’s Inferno.
The nine paintings each correspond to one of the sins represented within Dante’s nine circles of Hell, reimagined through a feminine lens.
I wanted there to be nods to Eve in the Garden throughout the works.
I was interested in the apple as a symbol that could hold both the expectation of feminine perfection and the suspicion of something sinister beneath it.
