Cllr Kam Rai, Leader of Redbridge Council, said: "This bid is about local people. Replacing the bridge will be one of the biggest infrastructure projects the borough has ever undertaken, delivering a permanent solution built to modern standards. Rebuilding the bridge is seen as essential for reconnecting communities, restoring a crucial route for emergency services and businesses, and reinforcing the national transport network. The council has pledged a substantial financial contribution to the project and is working with government departments, MPs, Transport for London, and other partners.
