The Save Scotby Field meeting was held in Scotby Village Hall at 7pm on Wednesday, July 29, where villagers aired concerns and put forward solutions for the private auction of an - as yet undeveloped - parcel of land in Rookery Park, sitting at a guide price of £280,000. Residents want the public auction of the 16-acre plot – scheduled for September 1 at 7pm in Scotby Village Hall to be delayed to buy some time so that they can secure funding. Campaigners say the plot of land is an ‘open window’ that ‘connects the village to the countryside’, and that any changes would significantly alter the character of the village. Back in 2020, there had been a planning application for 90 homes on this piece of land that was rejected for a second time. Following the sale, there will be a 10% deposit due by September 4, and completion six weeks after auction with vacant possession.
