Two fire engines from Widnes and Runcorn fire stations were sent to Hale Road shortly before 9.45pm. This came after Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports that a fire had broken out in a shipping container. A fire service spokesman said: “Firefighters were called to a well-established fire in a shipping container in Widnes. “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet and main jet to extinguish the fire, and a high-pressure fan was used to clear smoke from the container. “The container was stripped out, and thermal imaging cameras were used to identify any hotspots, which were then dampened down.
