Judge Graham Knowles said: “You did not have a licence to drive a dumper truck on a public road; you had never taken, let alone passed, a driving test even for a car. “You did not tell your employers of your epilepsy, and you did not tell them you had any type of driving licence. The last thing the victim remembered was discussing plans for the garden and seeing Bradbury’s vehicle leave the site, before mounting the pavement and running the couple over. Colleagues of Bradbury described the incident and explained that he had mounted the curve into the path and didn’t stop the truck. Judge Knowles said the incident was so severe that only immediate custody would be an appropriate sentence.
