Blackburn Empire Theatre's tribute to Jimmy Cricket 'our patron and our friend'

Jimmy CricketHe would often play the theatre's regular variety shows and the theatre hosted the premiere of his comedy play No More Fiffing and Faffing which he wrote about an ageing comedy double act.
"Jimmy Cricket was our patron, but far more importantly, he was our friend," it said.
"Our thoughts are with Jimmy's wife May, his family and everyone whose lives he touched.
He would become a familiar face around the clubs, performing first as Jimmy Mulgrew before adopting the persona of Jimmy Cricket, complete with wellies on his feet marked L and R on the wrong feet.
Jimmy Cricket leaves his wife of 52 years, May and his four children.
