Visitors to Blackburn town centre may have noticed the scaffolding coming down at the Grade II-listed Victoria Building in Blakey Moor. Following the removal of the canopy which had covered the building for close to three years, scaffolding is now being removed at the side of the building, part of Blackburn College. The restoration plan will restore the four-storey landmark Victoria Building to its former glory by transforming it into a modern hub complete with a top-floor art space. The statue of former Blackburn MP Barbara Castle also had to be relocated from its position outside the building while work takes place. Opposite the Victoria building, scaffolding has also been removed from King George’s Hall.
