The blaze at Dunwich Heath has been ongoing since last Wednesday is still requiring around the clock efforts from the fire service. A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service issued an update on Tuesday which said: "Firefighters have made good progress again today despite some challenging weather conditions. Please continue to stay away from the area and respect road and footpath closures so emergency services can operate safely." Dog walkers have been stopped from walking across the charred heathland, with some of the soil recording temperatures of 600C. Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service has thanked the community for their "continued patience and support" throughout the incident.
