A £3.3M project to increase storm storage capacity at Anglian Water’s Canwick Water Recycling Centre (WRC), Lincolnshire, is nearing completion, with final commissioning and close-out activities underway. Delivered by Anglian Water’s @one Alliance, the scheme has been designed to increase storm storage capacity at the site to meet PR24 requirements while improving operational resilience and enabling future network integration. The Canwick catchment is subject to increasing regulatory scrutiny around storm overflows and environmental performance, with updated requirements introduced through PR24 placing greater emphasis on storm storage capacity, settlement performance and reducing intermittent discharges to receiving watercourses. A statement from Anglian Water said: “The primary challenge at Canwick WRC was to increase storm storage capacity in line with updated regulatory requirements. The modular tank measures 28.178m in diameter and 7.035m in height, increasing the site’s total storm storage capacity to 9,173m³ and meeting regulatory requirements.
