AdvertisementEmerging Limerick six-piece Currents have released their debut single, ‘Back in Time,’ this month, marking the first chapter for one of the city’s newest young alternative bands. Formed in October 2025 through Music Generation, Currents quickly developed creative ideas and have since been writing original music that blends the genres of indie rock and shoegaze. The band features Bebhinn Ryan on lead vocals, acoustic guitar, songwriting and lyrics, alongside Bess Walsh on lead vocals and piano, Stephen Purcell on lead guitar, CJ Young on bass, Reece Buckley on drums, and Liam Hunka on cello and saxophone. Despite only forming last year, and being teenagers who balance school and music, the Limerick band have already begun building a reputation on the local live music scene, performing at several events, including two performances at Dolans.
